Saints Florus and Laurus are venerated as Christian martyrs of the 2nd century.  They were twin brothers who worked as stonemasons. They were originally from Constantinople, Byzantium but settled in Ulpiani, Dardania, south of Pristina, Kosovo in the district of Illyricum. They were educated in the art of masonry by two men named Maximus and Proculus, who were Christians.
According to their legend, Likaion, the prefect of Illyricum, employed the brothers in the construction of a pagan temple. The brothers gave their salaries to the poor. When the son of a local pagan priest named Mamertin was injured by a chip of stone from the saints' temple, Florus and Laurus cured the boy after the boy converted to Christianity. Mamertin also decided to convert to Christianity as a result of his son's recovery.
After the temple was built, Florus and Laurus brought together many local Christians there. The group smashed all of the statues of the pagan gods, and a cross was set up in the temple.
The Christians spent the whole night in prayer in the converted temple. As a result of this action, the local authorities had 300 Christians, including Mamertin and Mamertin's son, burned to death.
Florus and Laurus were executed in a different manner; Likaion had them thrown down an empty well. The well was covered over with earth.

The relics have been found incorruptible. It was on the very same day that a severe horse plague came to an end, which led to the martyrs' association with horses. The relics were transfered to Constantinople.

Συντήρηση εικόνας Αγίου Γεωργίου - Restoration of Saint George icon

Before restoration

After restoration

 This icon of Saint George and scenes of his martyrdom dates back ~18th century. The iconographer who painted it, is unknown to us. This icon is not signed and dated.
There are damages to the left part of the icon that may have been caused by a candle that was too close.
The whole icon was covered with a heavy coating of dirt, grime, and yellowed varnish.

Riza is a decorative metal covering over the face or the bodies of the Saints of an icon, usually silver. Holes are cut into the riza, frequently displaying only the faces and hands of the subject. Riza has been removed, to be displayed and cleaned separately. Sometimes, only the parts that show in the Risa are replaced. In this restoration, both the painted areas and the riza were cleaned.

Άγιος Ευθύμιος - Saint Efthimios

Egg tempera
Troparion (Tone 4)
Rejoice, O barren wilderness!
And be glad, sterile desert, that has never known the travail of birth!
The man of desires has multiplied your sons;
He has planted them in faith and piety.
He has watered them with the Holy Spirit:
They grow in self-denial and perfect virtue.
Through His intercessions, O Christ God, preserve Your people in peace!
Kontakion (Tone 8)
The wilderness rejoiced at your birth, holy father Euthymius.
In your memory, it brings a harvest of joy through your many miracles.
Pour these wonders on our souls as well and cleanse us from our sins,
That we may sing: Alleluia!

Παναγία η Βασίλισσα - Panagia the Queen

30x 25cm- 11,8x 9,8inch
Egg tempera and gold leaf 22k
To the Theotokos, let us run now most fervently,
As sinners and lowly ones,
Let us fall down in repentance,
Crying from the depths of our soul:
Lady, come and help us,
Have compassion upon us;
Hasten now for we are lost
In the host of our errors;
Do not turn your servants away,
For you alone are a hope to us.
